Mr Gumpy’s Outing is one of those children’s books from the 1970s that has probably become a classic. The illustrations remind me of all my books when I was little and I think that the children find them a nice change from the brash cartoon pictures and CGI images that they see…

This book is all about a boy called Jack who learned how to use his potty to go to the toilet with. He was a very clever boy and when he had finished he had a big hug with his mummy.

This hilarious book is just the kind of thing that children go for. All about pants, it had funny cartoons on every page and the text is great to read aloud. The nonsensical rythmic ryhmes really get the children going in this book….

Part of the fantastic Amazing Machines series, a book full of space rockets and journeys to the moon. Like most little boys, Jack is very keen on space and this book is a favourite in the children’s collection.

A great book by Jack Tickle, a great name in children’s books, tells you about each dinosaur with a funny ryhme and colourful pictures. The amazing “paper engineering” that animates the dinosaur scenes, bring it to life and the children love to be frightened if you roar loudly as you quickly turn the page.

This is the book that parents often remember from their childhood. It is, no doubt, a classic. The book teaches counting, days of the week and the weird life cycle of a butterfly. I am not sure that the children love story as much I do though….

This is a great little book for babies and young children that they love to hear a hundred times a day. It is written in little ryhmes with pictures that tell the story of a boy, a dog and a lost teddy bear….
