Dig Dig Digging by Margaret Mayo

Jack Says:

It was my turn to choose a book at bedtime tonight and I asked for the one about diggers. We haven’t had it for a little while and I used to like it when I was a baby. I am a big boy now and have a yellow digger that I drive in the garden but Meggy and me went on our bicycles today. I like this story because it has diggers, bulldozers, cranes and lorries in it.

Daddy Says:

Any book with diggers in it is bound to be a hit, especially with little boys. Add to that really interesting colour pictures and rythmic ryhmes about each piece of machinery, and you get a book that has to be read over and over again. Jack has had this book since he was quite small and always loved the predictability of the ryhmes, joining in with word sounds as soon as he was able. Megan also enjoys this book and tonight we all read it aloud together as a trip down the memory lane of stories from the children’s (short) past. This book is part of a series that are written in a similar style but I think the children and I both reckon the words and rythmns in The Diggers Book are the best of them all. Buy for babies and you will get loads of “wear” out of this book.
