Good Knight Sleep Tight

Tonight we had a story about a good knight who has to get some feathers for a baby’s pillow. He was very brave and had to go and fight bears and wolves and climb up a scary tree. When he brought the feathers home, the baby princess went to sleep and everyone in the castle did too. I have got a knight costume but I didn’t wear it today.

This book has all the ingredients of a great children’s book. A humorous adventure story and funny illustrations with details everywhere, the children enjoy it a great deal. When reading the book, I always feel as if Jack and Meg don’t quite get a lot of the details and the language seems to assume rather a complex understanding from pre-school children. I think that , although enjoyable for toddlers, Good Knight, Sleep Tight is best fully appreciated by children of 4 years and older.
