Flora’s Flowers by Debi Gliori
August 3Megan Says:
At bedtime tonight, I asked Daddy if we could have the Flora’s flowers book. It is one of my favourite books and is all about a little rabbit who tries to make a house by growing a brick. It doesn’t grow but a bird makes a nest in it at the end. I had a shower in the bath tonight and my hair is still wet.

Daddy Says:
Debi Gliori is a fantastic writer of children’s books and every book we read becomes a favourite with the children for one reason or another. Flora is the youngest of a large family of rabbits and the book tells a story of the whole family growing things in the garden. Flora plants a brick in the hope that it will grow into a house and, while her brothers and sister have great success with their planting efforts, Flora doesn’t. The children get quite caught up Flora’s anticipaton as she examines her brick for signs of life. As the season’s change, it seems that Flora will continue to be disappointed but a surprise visitor appears and all is well . The illustrations are both amusing and touching and give us a great insight into the Rabbit-Bunn family and their characters. One of Meggy’s favourites that the children never seem to get tired of and another great childrens book from the author of Flora’s Blanket .
Mummy Says:
This book is a classic of the future and one that sentimental mums will put away and keep long after the children have grown out of it. The beautiful illustrations have so much detail in them, I notice something new in them very time we look at the book. The story is simply but meaningful and so enchantingly written that you find yourself wishing Flora could jump out of the page so you could give her a cuddle. I hope Debi Gliori adds to this series about the Rabbit-Bunn Family, as I would gladly collect them all. Definitely one to treasure.
